NSSE

The (NSSE) is a large-scale project administered by the University of Indiana (Bloomington) that seeks to assess the nature and quality of the undergraduate student experience. In 2009, NSSE boasted 367,318 student respondents from 640 colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.

First-year and senior students are the target populations for NSSE. Randomly selected students are invited to complete (the NSSE survey instrument) during the spring academic term. This questionnaire queries students about their participation in a variety of academic, co-, and extra-curricular activities, their attitudes toward the campus environment, and their perceptions of their own academic and personal growth. Students are also asked to provide background information (e.g., modal grades, sex, ethnicity, and parental education). NSSE researchers systematically monitor theÌýpsychometric properties (including validity and reliability) of College Student Report data.

The 91̽»¨ (Seattle) first participated in NSSE in 2002, and has participated biennially since 2005. This periodically-updated page contains links to a variety of reports on 91̽»¨Seattle student responses. Questions or requests for information should be directed to Jillian Morn, the 91̽»¨Seattle campus liaison in Institutional Assessment & Evaluation.
