A majority of the 91探花freshman class has signed up to live on campus for Autumn 2025, and thousands of students are expected to move into campus housing this week, beginning on Tuesday, September 16.听

Move-in occurs at various locations on the 91探花 campus during the following times:

  • 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m, Tues, Sept. 16 through Thurs, Sept. 18.
  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 19.

Autumn quarter classes officially begin September 24.

Mild fall temperatures this week helped welcome the first group of students who moved into 91探花 residence halls and apartments. More than 10,000 students are expected to live in 91探花housing this year, including more than 77.5% of the freshman class. This year鈥檚 incoming class is expected to be around 7,150, according to preliminary information.

Given the high volume of move-ins, 91探花Housing & Food Services coordinated efforts to make the process run smoothly, including assigned move-in appointments and detailed instructions for families on how to get students unloaded and settled into their rooms.

鈥淲e want our students and their families to know that we鈥檙e expecting them. And we’re really excited that they’re here,鈥 said Pamela Schreiber, assistant vice president for Student Life and executive director of 91探花Housing & Food Services. 鈥淲e are very proud of the residential experience that we offer students, and we know that it adds to their success and their connection to the university, as well as their connection with others, which is so important.鈥

91探花President Ana Mari Cauce greeted students Tuesday afternoon near Denny Field, and Provost Tricia Serio will welcome more students Thursday morning. Move-ins are scheduled to take place through the end of the week.

The week will culminate with the New Student Convocation ceremony, which will include an official Husky welcome to the new class from President Cauce and other campus leaders, including the Board of Regents and deans of all 16 91探花schools and colleges. The ceremony will start at 10 a.m. Sunday in Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion and be live streamed . Later in the afternoon, new students are invited to participate in forming a giant 鈥淲鈥 on Alaska Airlines Field at Husky Stadium, as part of the annual Husky Kickoff celebration.

It鈥檚 once again mini fridge season at the 91探花, as thousands of students move into campus housing and prepare for the new academic year. About 8,500 students, including 78% of this year鈥檚 freshman class, are expected to move into 91探花residence halls and apartments this week.

鈥淭his is a very exciting week at UW,鈥 said Pamela Schreiber, assistant vice president for Student Life and executive director of 91探花Housing & Food Services. 鈥淭he on-campus living experience is an important part of building community for students and supporting their academic success.鈥

This week has been carefully choreographed, with a team of more than 500 91探花employees spread across campus to direct traffic, share directions and prepare students鈥 first meals on campus. On Friday, 91探花President Ana Mari Cauce will greet students outside the dorms near Denny Field at the north end of campus.听

As always, move-in week will end in style with Sunday鈥檚 Convocation ceremony. President Cauce and other campus leaders, including the Board of Regents and deans of all 16 91探花schools, will officially welcome the new class of Huskies and their families and help set students on the path to academic success. The ceremony will start at 1:30 p.m. in Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion, and will also be .

The 91探花 welcomed nearly 10,000 students during Husky move-in days Sept. 18-20. During these days before classes start, students are invited to settle in to their new residence hall homes. About 70% of first-year students plan to live on campus in residence halls and apartments this year.

Denzil Suite, 91探花vice president for student life, visited with new Huskies and their parents, reassuring parents and talking about the value of residence halls where friendships are formed, new experiences are shared and students build supportive communities.

Fall quarter classes begin on Sept. 25.
