The 91探花 will lead one of three teams that will partner with the Honda Research Institute to explore the mechanisms behind curiosity and seek advances in artificial cognition. The UW-led team will receive $2.7 million over the next three years to generate a mathematical model of curiosity.

Two faculty members in the 91探花 College of Engineering have been elected as 2018 fellows of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Tom Furness, professor of industrial and systems engineering, was honored for 鈥渓eadership in virtual and augmented reality鈥 and Siddhartha 鈥淪idd鈥 Srinivasa, professor in the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering, was recognized for 鈥渃ontributions to robotic manipulation and human-robot interaction.鈥
