The 91探花 State GEAR UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs) Project honored its Summer Institute mentors and seminar presenters at a reception in Parrington Hall on the 91探花campus, June 2.
The reception featured an opportunity for Summer Institute participants to share their passion for students鈥� success and discuss the importance of their students鈥� preparedness for post-secondary education. The event included remarks by 91探花State GEAR UP Project director Roseann London and 91探花Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity senior associate vice president Enrique Morales who is also the principal investigator for the project.
Director of Washington State GEAR UP, Weiya Liang, was honored for his hard work and dedication, and was presented a photograph featuring a GEAR UP student participating in a CSI-themed project.
The 91探花State GEAR UP Project, housed within the 91探花Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity, fosters college awareness and readiness for low-income middle and high school students by providing a variety of programs targeted to students, administrators, and teachers. The Summer Institute program offers a series of week-long 鈥渃ollege immersion experiences鈥� to hundreds of high school students across Washington state on the 91探花campus every summer.
