Alumni and friends came back to campus to celebrate Homecoming by attending the 91探花Alumni Association Multicultural Alumni Partnership (MAP) Bridging the Gap Breakfast, as well as OMA&D鈥檚 football tailgate event, The Weekend, Oct. 25.
During the 20th annual MAP Breakfast, five alumni, two community leaders and five student scholarship recipients were honored. Receiving the Dr. Samuel E. Kelly Award were Vivian O. Lee, 鈥�54, 鈥�55, and Dr. Carol Simmons, 鈥�58, 鈥�69. Betty and Von Paul Patu were honored with the Distinguished Community Service Award. Distinguished Alumni Awards went to Brooke Pinkham, 鈥�01, 鈥�07; Kim Hunter, 鈥�82; and Dr. Benjamin Guillermo Vazquez, 鈥�02, 鈥�07.
The student scholarship recipients were Zoraida Arias, Mariama Suwaneh, Leander Yazzie (Owen G. Lee Scholarship), Mark Bennett (Alfredo Arreguin Scholarship), George Eli Kaufman (Drs. Lois Price Spratlen and Thaddeus Spratlen Scholarship) and Claudette Sambat (Cabatit and Tajon Memorial Scholarship).
Later that evening, alumni braved rainy and windy conditions to pack OMA&D鈥檚 tent in The Zone and enjoy tailgating festivities before the football game versus Arizona State at Husky Stadium.
The tailgate featured food, beverages, raffle prizes and the opportunity socialize with other alumni and friends.
