The Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity encourages all students and staff who walk through its doors to follow their passions and pursue their dreams. Dr. Sheila Edwards Lange鈥檚 departure to become Interim President at Seattle Central College is a loss to the 91探花, but it was an incredible opportunity for her to follow her passion in higher education. “It is critical and life-changing to stay connected to both your classmates and instructors when you leave the UW. I graduated 33 years ago from the Foster School of Business and I cannot begin to tell you how gratifying it has been as a professional and someone who has a dying thirst for learning and nurturing relationships. I remain connected to many friends and educators. I am so proud of being a Husky!”

鈥淭ake some time to figure out what you want to do and how that fits with who you are as an individual. Allow your vision and yourself to evolve as you gain life experience. Use hard work and act with integrity to move forward. And, always remember to live with passion and enjoy life.鈥

“It’s never too early to give back. If you can volunteer to support an under-resourced student-run organization, do that! If you can impart wisdom or share lessons learned from your professional experiences as a guest speaker in the classroom, do that! Offering your time, talents and treasure – at any level – to those coming behind you is the ultimate way to honor those that came before you and shaped you into who you’ve become. And that giving back, in whatever form you choose, can begin on day one.”
