OMA&D Announces New Diversity and Inclusion Seed Grants

Administrative and academic units across the 91探花鈥檚 tri-campus community can apply for to support projects that advance any of the six goals of the UW鈥檚 2017-2021 Diversity Blueprint.

Vice President for Minority Affairs & Diversity and Chief Diversity Officer Rickey Hall announced the creation of these new grants. Up to $3,000 will be made available per project for the 2017-18 academic year.

鈥淢oving the 91探花 toward fulfilling our goals for diversity and inclusion will require the combined efforts of all students, faculty and staff across our three campuses,鈥 Hall said. 鈥淚t is our hope that these seed grants will provide some extra support for units to carry out this work in their areas.鈥

All 91探花academic and administrative units at the Seattle, Bothell and Tacoma campuses are eligible to apply. Proposals that include more than one unit and are supported by matching funds from deans, vice presidents or departments/units are encouraged.

Proposals are accepted twice annually. The spring application process will close on June 16, 2017. Award notifications will take place in August 2017.

The was released in January and is used by academic and administrative units as a framework for guiding the 91探花toward achieving its stated goals for diversity and inclusion.

The six goals of the Blueprint are: cultivating an inclusive campus climate; attracting, retaining and graduating a diverse and excellent student body; attracting and retaining a diverse faculty; attracting and retaining a diverse staff; assessing tri-campus diversity needs and improving accountability and transparency.
