From May 31 through June 5, 2022, the convened again for an in-person conference in Portland, Oregon. The 91探花was well represented in attendance with 84 students, faculty, staff and alumni coming from all three 91探花campuses registered to attend.
Among the day-long pre-conference institutes, and hundreds of deep and impactful sessions and keynote addresses, 91探花 leadership traveled to the conference to present on . 91探花Regent Rogelio Riojas, 91探花President Ana Mari Cauce, and 91探花VP for OMA&D and UDO Rickey Hall joined together on a panel discussion moderated by 91探花alumnae and . Many attendees in this session commented that it spoke to the priority the 91探花places on advancing equity and inclusion that a regent, the president, and a member of the president鈥檚 cabinet prioritized attending and presenting at the conference.
In the expo hall, 91探花School of Social Work and OMA&D set up booths where conference goers could stop by and get more information about programs and services offered at UW. For OMA&D, the most popular display and handout was the updated 2022-2026 91探花Diversity Blueprint, where conference goers helped themselves to more than 200 print copies of the document and scanned the QR code for the digital version hundreds more times throughout the week.
On Thursday night of the conference, the VP and UDO hosted a reception at Portland鈥檚 Spirit 77 across the street from the convention center. With beautiful sunny weather, delicious snacks, and vibrant music, more than 75 attending students, faculty, staff and alumni came together to be in community and share in an early evening of networking, sharing stories, and showing their Husky pride!
As the conference was winding down, many from the 91探花shared how much it meant for them to attend NCORE this year in person, and the rejuvenation they felt to be in community with like-minded colleagues, sharing ideas and stories from around the country. 鈥淚t is encouraging to me to see colleagues from across the three campuses engaged in professional development focused on anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion,鈥� said VP for OMA&D and 91探花UDO Rickey Hall. 鈥淔olks from 91探花Bothell, 91探花Tacoma, the Foster school of business, the College of Engineering, the School of Social Work and so many more showed up to learn and bring back ideas to their academic and administrative units. This demonstrates my belief that diversity is everyone鈥檚 everyday work at the UW.鈥�
