Listening to the community is critical to improving Latino health

Image of the Latino Center for Health's logoThe 91探花’s Latino Center for Health is based at the 91探花 School of Public Health and operates in partnership with the School of Social Work.

Hallmarks of the center’s work are community collaboration, advocacy and culturally responsive research. Engaging the community in a respectful and authentic way is at the very core of the center鈥檚 mission to address health disparities and promote well-being across the diverse Latinx population.

Nearly all of the center’s research currently being conducted stems from requests originated by community leaders and organizations. This includes a Population Health Initiative-supported project to identify the health and safety concerns facing farmworkers in Skagit and Whatcom counties.
