Pay attention to emails and letters from your sponsor, in addition to the award document for special instructions about setting up your award.<\/p>\n<p>Many sponsors have their own grants management systems, it might be the same as their proposal system or separate. If your award information mentions an online system that will be used for award acceptance, submitting reports, and\/or requesting project changes, now is the time to make sure you have access.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"non-fed\"><\/a>Select Non-Federal Sponsor Guidance<\/h2>\n<h3>American Heart Association (AHA)<\/h3>\n<p>Use <a href=\"https:\/\/professional.heart.org\/en\/research-programs\/aha-proposalcentral\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ProposalCentral<\/a> to review status and award notification. Review <a href=\"https:\/\/professional.heart.org\/en\/research-programs\/aha-research-policies-and-awardee-hub\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">AHA Research policies and Awardee Hub<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n<h3>Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF)<\/h3>\n<p>The award will be made to the 91探花 Foundation (UWF). \u00a0The UWF facilitates transferring the award to the  91探花through OSP. OSP reviews and negotiates the agreement with BMGF and forwards the agreement to UWF for signature. After receiving the signed agreement, OSP creates an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/myresearch-lifecycle\/setup\/financials\/#asr-workflow\">Award Setup Request (ASR)<\/a> in SAGE and sends it to campus for completion.<\/p>\n<h3>European Union Awards<\/h3>\n<p>Time tracking requirements in European Union awards (direct or flow-through) require additional tracking beyond  91探花effort reporting.<\/p>\n<p>The European Commission has provided this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/forms-and-templates\/european-union-eu-horizon-award-time-tracking-form\/\">time tracking template<\/a> to use for meeting their time tracking requirements.\u00a0 Use this template for awards from the EU unless the sponsor has a more specific template referenced in their award terms.<\/p>\n<h3>Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI)<\/h3>\n<p>PCORI Online is a \u201cone-stop-shop\u201d for all aspects of the award lifecycle: from proposal submission to reporting and management. \u00a0PIs get access to PCORI Online during their proposal preparation.<\/p>\n<p>Check out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pcori.org\/funding-opportunities\/awardee-resources\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">PCORI\u2019s Awardee Resources<\/a> as you set up your new award.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"industry-sponsors\"><\/a>Industry Sponsors<\/h2>\n<p>Most agreements with industry sponsors are provided on sponsor templates and require OSP to negotiate terms and conditions with the sponsor. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/myresearch-lifecycle\/setup\/sponsor-requirements\/agreement-considerations\/\">Review considerations<\/a> that go into the review and negotiation of a sponsored research agreement at the UW.<\/p>\n<h3>Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) \/ Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs<\/h3>\n<p>If an SBIR or STTR is awarded by the federal government, the small business entity receives an award from the federal sponsor. The small business then issues a subaward to the  91探花for our work on the project. Review information on how to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/myresearch-lifecycle\/plan-and-propose\/sponsor-requirements\/non-federal\/#incoming-subs\">prepare an eGC1 for incoming subawards.<\/a><br \/>\n<a name=\"boeing\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Boeing Research Services<\/h3>\n<p>Boeing and the 91探花 have a Master Research and Services Agreement (MRSA) in place. When a project is identified, a Project Agreement is entered between Boeing and  91探花that is governed by the MRSA.<\/p>\n<h4> 91探花Background IP<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/comotion.uw.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Contact CoMotion<\/a> before sharing  91探花<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/glossary\/background-intellectual-property\/\">Background Intellectual Property<\/a> (IP).<\/p>\n<p>Proposed projects may involve  91探花Background IP. Prior to sharing  91探花Background IP, even at an early discussion stage:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Limit to only Identified Background IP created in the lab of the PI<\/li>\n<li>IP must be disclosed to CoMotion<\/li>\n<li>Background IP must be cleared for use by CoMotion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Proprietary Information Agreement (PIA)<\/h4>\n<p>When Boeing requires a PIA before you exchange Proprietary Information, Follow the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/faq\/naa-egc1-instructions\/\">Non-Award Agreement (NAA) eGC1 instructions<\/a>. Include the draft PIA and all required documentation, and explanation of the information that will be shared. Before sharing  91探花Background IP, <a href=\"https:\/\/comotion.uw.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">contact CoMotion<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h4>Solicitation\/Request for Quotes (RFQs) and Project Agreements<\/h4>\n<p>All Solicitation\/RFQs and draft Project Agreements from Boeing are sent to the\u00a0College of Engineering, Collaboration Core <strong> 91探花Boeing Focal Point<\/strong>: <a href=\"mailto:tbc-collab@uw.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tbc-collab@uw.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">RFQ alone:<\/h5>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">The  91探花Boeing Focal Point will forward to the PI\/department.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">The PI\/department <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/myresearch-lifecycle\/plan-and-propose\/submit-proposal\/\">initiates the eGC1 process<\/a> and sends the RFQ, proposal, budget and other relevant information to OSP. If  91探花Background IP is proposed as part of the project, you must <a href=\"https:\/\/comotion.uw.edu\/\">contact CoMotion first<\/a> to ensure it is eligible for sharing. Proposal materials containing Background IP will not be endorsed by OSP and eligible for submission to Boeing without CoMotion clearance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">If assistance is needed with contacting CoMotion or the eGC1 process, the Focal Point can provide guidance.<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">\u00a0RFQs accompanied by a draft Project Agreement:<\/h5>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">At times, Boeing is actively involved in Statement of Work (SOW) development, which means the RFQ and draft Project Agreement are issued at same time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">The  91探花Boeing Focal Point will forward to the PI\/department.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">The PI\/department initiates an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/policies\/gim-1\/#atf\">After-the-Fact eGC<\/a>1 and sends the RFQ, SOW, budget, draft Project Agreement and other relevant information to OSP. If  91探花Background IP is proposed as part of the project, you must first contact CoMotion to ensure it is eligible for sharing before it can be listed in the Project Agreement. Review the special processes in place for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/myresearch-lifecycle\/plan-and-propose\/sponsor-requirements\/non-federal\/#fhcc\">Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (FHCC)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/myresearch-lifecycle\/plan-and-propose\/sponsor-requirements\/non-federal\/#scri\">Seattle Children\u2019s Research Institute (SCRI)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/myresearch-lifecycle\/plan-and-propose\/sponsor-requirements\/non-federal\/#sibcr\">Seattle Institute for Biomedical and Clinical Research (SIBCR)<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/myresearch-lifecycle\/plan-and-propose\/sponsor-requirements\/non-federal\/#va\">Veteran Affairs (VA) of Puget Sound (VA)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><a name=\"subs-in\"><\/a>Incoming Subawards<\/h3>\n<p>Incoming subawards happen when another institution (pass-through entity) receives funding from a sponsor (aka prime sponsor) and that institution subawards a portion of the work to the UW.<\/p>\n<p>The pass-through entity must receive its award from the prime sponsor before sending a subaward agreement to the  91探花for our portion of the project. Review information on how to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/myresearch-lifecycle\/plan-and-propose\/sponsor-requirements\/non-federal\/#incoming-subs\">prepare an eGC1 for incoming subawards.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Administrative delays between the start date of the project and receipt of the subaward agreement are common. Use an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/tools\/sage\/guide\/advances\/advance-request-overview\/\">advance request (ADV)<\/a>, as appropriate, to facilitate a timely start to  91探花project work.<\/p>\n<p>The  91探花is a participating <a href=\"https:\/\/fdpclearinghouse.org\/\">Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP)<\/a> Expanded Clearinghouse entity. Participating organizations agree to use FDP entity profiles to verify institutional information.<\/p>\n<p>Review the <a href=\"https:\/\/fdpclearinghouse.org\/organizations\/112\">UW\u2019s FDP Profile<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"hsr\"><\/a>Human Subjects Research Considerations<\/h2>\n<p><em>See the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/hsd\/\">Human Subjects Division (HSD) website<\/a> for information about all aspects of human subjects research.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Obtain Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval or an exempt determination<\/strong> before conducting any human subjects activities or spending any research funding on such activities.<\/p>\n<h3>Complete required training<\/h3>\n<p>Some sponsors require the PI and other research personnel to complete <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/hsd\/training\/required-training\/human-subjects-protections-training\/\">training in human subjects protections<\/a> and\/or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/hsd\/training\/required-training\/good-clinical-practice-training\/\">Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Register clinical trials<\/h3>\n<p>Studies that meet the definition of &#8220;clinical Trial&#8221; must <a href=\"https:\/\/clinicaltrials.gov\/ct2\/manage-recs\/register\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">register at ClinicalTrials.gov<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>Other requirements<\/h3>\n<p>Any research that will involve subjects or data from federal correctional facilities must comply with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/forms-and-templates\/worksheet-department-of-justice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">requirements of the Bureau of Prisons<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Contents Select Non-Federal Sponsor Guidance Industry Sponsors Other External Sponsors Human Subjects Research Considerations Setup actions for your award will vary based on awarding sponsor.
