The RRF, which is internal funding, also uses SAGE for its proposal applications.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"#before\">Before you Apply<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#unique\">SAGE Steps that are Unique to the RRF<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#same\">SAGE Steps for RRF that are the Same as Other Applications<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#route\">Route eGC1 for Approval<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong><a id=\"before\" name=\"Before you Apply\"><\/a>Before you Apply<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>If you have not used SAGE before, check with your unit\u2019s ASTRA administrator to be sure you have access to SAGE with the appropriate role. For technical help in completing the eGC1, check with your unit\u2019s administrator or email <a href=\"mailto:sagehelp@uw.edu\">sagehelp@uw.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, be sure to build in time for your department and school-level approvers to review and sign off on the application so that it will get to the RRF office by 5 pm on the deadline.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><a id=\"unique\" name=\"SAGE Steps that are Unique to the RRF\"><\/a> SAGE Steps that are Unique to the RRF <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The instructions below explain how to complete the input fields applicable to RRF, when they vary from external submissions. If an eGC1 section is not listed below, please complete it in the same way you would for other grant applications.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Details (Initial Page)<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Short Title \u2013 Please use RRF as the first three letters of your 22-character short title.<\/li>\n<li>Sponsor Deadline \u2013 Use the RRF due date. GIM 19 rules do not apply to RRF applications.<\/li>\n<li>Sponsor \u2013 Select \u201cRoyalty Research Fund (RRF)\u201d; no other sponsor information is needed.<\/li>\n<li>Does the funding originate from a different entity than the sponsor listed above (flow-through)? \u2013 Select No.<\/li>\n<li>Additional Information for RRF Applicants \u2013 This section displays at the bottom of the Details page when RRF is chosen as the Sponsor.<\/li>\n<li>Research Area \u2013 Select the one that best classifies the research. This might not match your departmental affiliation. Review the departmental affiliations of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/or\/royalty-research-fund-rrf\/rrf-committee-members\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">RRF Committee Members<\/a> in each area. Your proposal has a better chance of success if it is appropriately aligned with the expertise on the committee.<\/li>\n<li>Application for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/or\/royalty-research-fund-rrf\/rrf-for-applicants\/application-instructions\/#scholar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RRF Scholar<\/a> \u2013 Select either Yes or No.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>PI, Personnel &amp; Organization<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use the \u201cLook Up Principal Investigator\u201d button to select the PI for this application. If the search results include more than one entry, select the organizational affiliation that corresponds to the department that will be receiving and administering the funding.<\/li>\n<li>If there are Co-Is, add their names on this page so that their departments appear on the Approval Graph. Choose \u201cCo-Investigator\u201d from the drop-down menu for the Role Type. For any other personnel, select &#8220;Other.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Budget &amp; Fiscal Compliance<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For F1 \u201cWill F&amp;A costs be reimbursed at less than the federally negotiated rate for the UW?\u201d \u2013 Select No.<\/li>\n<li>For F2 \u201cWill administrative or clerical support be included in the budget as direct costs?
