{"id":7978,"date":"2017-02-17T10:56:04","date_gmt":"2017-02-17T18:56:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/?page_id=7978"},"modified":"2026-02-23T17:20:09","modified_gmt":"2026-02-24T01:20:09","slug":"classified-research","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/myresearch-lifecycle\/setup\/compliance-requirements-non-financial\/classified-research\/","title":{"rendered":"Classified Research"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Classified and restricted research have specific requirements that must be in place before the  91探花can accept an award.<\/p>\n<p>Review guidance on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"\/research\/myresearch-lifecycle\/plan-and-propose\/sponsor-requirements\/classified-or-restricted-research\/#precontract-reqs-classified-research\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pre-Contract Requirements for Classified Research<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"\/research\/myresearch-lifecycle\/plan-and-propose\/sponsor-requirements\/classified-or-restricted-research\/\">Classified or Restricted Research<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) Requirements<\/h2>\n<p>Before accepting funding for work that contains classified information, <a href=\"\/research\/osp\/\">OSP<\/a> must have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>DD Form 254 signed by the Contracting Officer<\/li>\n<li>PI\u2019s confirmation from the Faculty Council on Research (FCR) approving the restricted research<\/li>\n<li>Approval by the  91探花Facility Security Officer (FSO) on associated <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washington.edu\/research\/tools\/sage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">eGC1<\/a> or written approval that  91探花personnel on the project have clearance. Contact <a href=\"mailto:uwfso@uw.edu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">uwfso@uw.edu<\/a><\/li>\n<li>In some cases <a href=\"\/research\/myresearch-lifecycle\/plan-and-propose\/sponsor-requirements\/classified-or-restricted-research\/#feasibility-memo\">Feasibility Review &amp; an IT Director Memo<\/a> must be completed and attached to the eGC1.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"accessibility-insights-root-container\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Classified and restricted research have specific requirements that must be in place before the  91探花can accept an award.
