FEATURED HUSKIES FROM THE 22ND LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT

Justice Raquel Montoya-Lewis, an enrolled member of the Pueblo of Isleta and a descendant of the Laguna Indian Tribe, became the first Native American appointed to serve on the Washington Supreme Court in 2019. Montoya-Lewis previously served as a Superior Court Judge for Whatcom County. 鈥淓very day, there is something that makes me reflect that this is a historical appointment that is meaningful to other people."
"I have demonstrated exceptional leadership and commitment to the health and well-being of my community through spearheading many initiatives, such as a NARCAN distribution program at the 91探花Tacoma and developing a more inclusive training curriculum for my local crisis hotline. In leading these health initiatives and advocating for systemic changes at the state level, I've proven my ability to unite diverse groups and successfully advance public health initiatives. SERVING THE 22ND LEGISLATIVE DISTRICT
The 91探花facilitates hundreds of programs in communities across the state. Below are a few that operate in your district. Programs active as of January 2023.

91探花in the High School
Through the program, high school sophomores, juniors and seniors can complete 91探花 courses 鈥 and earn college credit 鈥 in their own classrooms with their own teachers. Teachers are approved and trained by 91探花faculty to teach official 91探花courses using 91探花curriculum, activities, texts, tests and grading scales. Participating students can earn college credits at a fraction of the cost, and these credits are accepted by most colleges and universities across Washington and around the country. Partner high schools can offer 91探花coursework in computer science, math, science, world languages, humanities and social sciences. .听听

91探花INSPIRE
supports western Washington educators of pre-K through 12th grade with reciprocal research-practice partnerships, focusing on student thinking and giving educators the opportunity to learn alongside children, improving instruction and student achievement. Fueled by innovative local educators at all levels of the public-school system and supported by local philanthropists and individual donors, INSPIRE is coordinated by a team of faculty, staff and graduate students at the 91探花College of Education.

Pacific Northwest Seismic Network
The (PNSN), a partnership between the University of Oregon and the 91探花, is dedicated to reducing impacts of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions in Washington and Oregon by providing accurate and timely information about earthquakes and ground motions to scientists, engineers, planners and the public. The second-largest seismic network in the United States, PNSN has more than 300 seismograph stations as well as several offices and personnel across the region.
