As a teacher, Alondra Espinoza seeks to build a classroom community where students feel safe. One way she does that is by providing most of her instruction in Spanish. 鈥淭he system and society we鈥檙e currently in is predominantly in English, and it can sometimes be challenging to help students see the value of another language ... "I have many identities 鈥 humanities student, biology enthusiast, interdisciplinary activist and scholar, future physician 鈥 but I emerge out of, and through, these as a critical thinker and storyteller, passionate about listening to, as well as caring for, all peoples and their narratives. This motivates my current pursuits, whether that be researching queerness and the survivability of deviance in South Asian communities, working with young and underserved patient populations as a nursing assistant or advocating for decolonial futures in science and medicine. I believe listening is the first step towards healing, so as I walk through the 91探花and into the world, I wish to keep listening to, and learning from, those around me to ensure my growth both as a provider and a person. "
