SPEECH BY THE U.S. SUPREME COURT,
CONGRESS, AND EXTERNAL POLITICAL
FORCES. STUDENTS WILL LEARN ABOUT
THE TYPES OF SPEECH THE FIRST
AMENDMENT DOES AND DOES NOT
PROTECT, AND HOW OUR INDIVIDUAL
UNDERSTANDING OF FREE SPEECH
RIGHTS ARE RECONSTRUCTED BY
CHANGES IN OUR POLITICAL, LEGAL,
AND SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT. TOPICS FOR
ANALYSIS WILL INCLUDE POLITICAL
SPEECH, SYMBOLIC AND HATE SPEECH,
