Research, Service, and Training Interests
Technician and researcher training and education in humane laboratory animal care and use is a foundation for sound research. Training is available to all personnel on gentle, safe methods for handling and restraint, anesthesia, analgesia, and research and surgical techniques. Emphasis is on techniques that prevent or minimize animal discomfort. Education methods include hands-on laboratories with models and animals, supplemented with computer based training, discussions, and problem-based learning.
Service interests: Assisting as a governing board member and Secretary General for the International Council for Laboratory Animal Science (ICLAS, http://www.iclas.org). ICLAS is an international scientific organization dedicated to advancing human and animal health by promoting the ethical care and use of laboratory animals in research worldwide.
