CLERKSHIP PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Department of Comparative Medicine offers three pre-doctoral training programs for veterinary students interested in learning more about Laboratory Animal Medicine (LAM) as a potential career. LAM is an excellent career choice for veterinarians interested in working in innovative research environments where they can practice clinical medicine on a wide variety of aquatic and terrestrial animals, while also being involved in cutting-edge biomedical research. Laboratory Animal Veterinarians are typically employed by public or private universities, private research institutes, as well as pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

- Introductory two-week long clerkships for 3rd year veterinary students
- In-depth three-to-four week-long clerkships for 4th year veterinary students
- Also available is a 2 month-long summer research program for veterinary students
