Research, Service, and Training Interests
Dr. Mathieu鈥檚 research centers on elucidating the cellular and molecular mechanisms that govern cell fate decisions in both normal and pathological context, with a special focus on the interplay between metabolism and epigenetics in development and disease. Her primary objective is to uncover the key factors that influence cell fate under healthy and diseased conditions. She utilizes pluripotent stem cell technologies combined with genome editing to generate disease models in vitro, enabling her to investigate disease progression and explore potential therapeutic strategies.
Dr. Mathieu is the director of the Ellison Stem Cell core at the Institute for Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine (ISCRM). By providing training, support and genome editing services, the Ellison Stem Cell core assists investigators with their research in basic biology, disease modeling and regenerative medicine. The core has successfully edited the genome of various species, including human, non-human primate and mouse.聽Dr. Mathieu is co-director of the 91探花mouse CRISPR core which offers full-service genome editing to the Seattle community through the Transgenic Resources Program and the Department of Comparative Medicine.
