Dr. Donald Vereen, special assistant for medical affairs at the National Institute on Drug Abuse, will give a lecture on “Drug Abuse: Myths and Facts” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 27, in the Lyceum at Wenatchee Valley Community College.
Vereen oversees the institute’s national efforts to incorporate research on drug abuse into a variety of clinical settings. His lecture is free and open to the public.
Vereen’s appearance is part of a continuing public outreach project on the neurobiology of addiction, sponsored by the 91探花. An earlier series was offered in Wenatchee last fall.
The last lecture in the series will be given at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 23. Dr. Kate Mulligan of the 91探花School of Medicine’s Department of Biological Structure will discuss “The Human Brain: Anatomy and Physiology.”
