Dr. Donald Vereen, special assistant for medical affairs at the National Institute on Drug Abuse, will give a lecture on “Drug Abuse: Myths and Facts” from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, March 27, in the Lyceum at Wenatchee Valley Community College.

Vereen oversees the institute’s national efforts to incorporate research on drug abuse into a variety of clinical settings. His lecture is free and open to the public.

Vereen’s appearance is part of a continuing public outreach project on the neurobiology of addiction, sponsored by the 91̽»¨. An earlier series was offered in Wenatchee last fall.

The last lecture in the series will be given at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 23. Dr. Kate Mulligan of the 91̽»¨School of Medicine’s Department of Biological Structure will discuss “The Human Brain: Anatomy and Physiology.”
