Thousands of schoolchildren, their teachers and parents are expected to gather at the 91̽»¨ campus April 28 and 29 to learn about engineering by participating in hands-on demonstrations during the College of Engineering Open House.
Students and families will manipulate cultures of bioluminescent bacteria and watch the lights flash; launch water-propelled rockets to learn what causes thrust; get a look at Dawgstar, the smallest-known self-propelled satellite, which will be launched from the Space Shuttle in 2002; and morph pictures of themselves with computerized special effects, among other activities.
The open house is scheduled for April 28 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and on April 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The center for the event will be directly in front of Loew Hall, located on Stevens Way directly across from the HUB on the 91̽»¨campus. Exhibits and activities will be located at various engineering buildings. The event is free and open to the public.
