McDermott to speak
Dr. Jim McDermott, who represents Washington鈥檚 seventh district in the U.S. House of Representatives, will be on campus Monday, March 4, to speak at the Grand Rounds presentation for the MEDEX physician assistant program.
He is scheduled to speak from 8 to 9 a.m. in room T-439 of the Health Sciences Center. His topic is 鈥淣ow Is the Time for Universal Health Care in the United States of America.鈥 The program is open to everyone. For more information, contact Cheryl Parker at MEDEX, 598-7445.
“Women Docs” on Lifetime
Lifetime television channel is scheduled to broadcast the third episode of 鈥淲omen Docs鈥 that includes physicians from the 91探花at 11 p.m., Sunday, March 3. Drs. Nicole Gibran and Florence Shadlen, who practice at Harborview, and Drs. Nicole Maronian and Barbara Goff, who practice at 91探花Medical Center, will be featured. The documentary series was produced by Enterainment Television. Check local schedules to confirm the time and date of the broadcast.
Harborview Gala
The Grand Ballroom of the Seattle Westin hotel will be the setting for the 10th annual Salute Harborview! Gala, set for Friday evening, March 15. The event includes cocktails, dinner, entertainment by Belinda Carlisle, and dancing. The benefit supports the efforts of the region鈥檚 only Level 1 trauma and burn center. Proceeds will contribute to endowment of a chair in Harborview鈥檚 Trauma Surgery unit. The community chair for the event is Jeri Rice, owner of the store with that name at Seattle鈥檚 Four Seasons Hotel. She is also a board member of the UW鈥檚 Center for Women and Democracy.
