An artist鈥檚 interpretation of the hands of two 91探花heart surgeons and the operating field in which they are working appear as part of a public art project unveiled Feb. 14 in downtown Seattle.
鈥淲ithin Diseases and Health鈥� is a series of triptychs exploring the human circulatory system and the city鈥檚 lifeblood 鈥� electric utilities. The artists are Dan Corson, artist-in-residence at Seattle City Light, and Lyn McCracken, photographer-in-residence there.
The gloved hands in the image are those of Dr. Gabriel Aldea, associate professor of surgery in the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Dr. Ronald Wood, a surgical resident about to complete his training in cardiothoracic surgery.
The first part of the series, called 鈥淐onduct,鈥� will be on view until June 30. The exhibition space, named Electric Gallery, is the exterior western wall of the Union Substation, at Union and Western Avenue.
