The College of Arts and Sciences is seeking contributions to the Aubrey Gorbman Lecture Fund, after Gorbman鈥檚 death last month. The endowment will annually bring distinguished scientists for lectures to the UW鈥檚 academic and wider community.

Gorbman, a comparative endocrinologist, was a faculty member in the UW鈥檚 Zoology Department from 1963 until his retirement in 1985. He was the author or co-author of some 250 refereed articles and five books, including textbooks on comparative endocrinology that have been invaluable in teaching generations of students. He received research grants from the Guggenheim, Fulbright and National Science Foundations and was elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Retirement didn鈥檛 stop Gorbman from doing his research, which continued until a few weeks before his death. His last paper will be published posthumously.
