Dr. John I. Clark has been named chair of the School of Medicine’s Department of Biological Structure. Clark, a 91̽»¨professor since 1991, had been serving as acting chair. He also has an adjunct appointment in the Department of Ophthalmology.

After completing a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College in 1968, he received a Ph.D. in biological structure from the 91̽»¨in 1974. Clark was also a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University and a research fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was an assistant professor at both MIT and Harvard Medical School, and joined the 91̽»¨faculty in 1982.

Clark is studying development and structure of the eye’s lens at the cellular and molecular level.
