A competition of 91探花student art works protesting U.S. domestic and foreign policies and promoting peace and justice has been announced by Campus for Peace and Justice.
鈥淎rt communicates feelings and information in a different and more powerful way than a mere presentation of dry facts can,鈥� explains Physics Professor George Bertsch, a contest organizer. 鈥淎rt can add energy to protest and actually effect change.鈥�
The juried contest is open to all students enrolled on any 91探花campus during winter quarter, with separate categories for undergraduates and graduate students and with six categories of art. Deadline for submission is March 13. Each of the 12 winners will receive a cash prize of $100, and their works will be presented on campus at the Second Annual Day of Reflection in April.
The six categories of original, unpublished art are: Visual arts, poetry, short prose, music, one-act plays and nonfiction essays.
