CASE WINNERS: Once again the 91探花scored big in the competition sponsored by the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Region VIII, covering Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho, Montana and Western Canada. The awards included a silver in Internal Audience Periodicals for University Week (Nancy Wick, Steve Hill and Claire Dietz) and a silver in Magazines with a Circulation of more than 20,000 for the alumni magazine, Columns (Tom Griffin, Ken Shafer and Jon Marmor).

University Week photographer Mary Levin won a gold in Photography 鈥 Series for 鈥淔aces of the Millenium,鈥 while frequent UWeek writer Steven Goldsmith won a bronze in News Releases for 鈥淲hat Makes a Difference in Mom鈥檚 Life?鈥 鈥淧rize Catch鈥 snagged a silver in Features and Articles in Magazines, Newsletters and Tabloids for Health Sciences news writer Walter Neary.

Publications Services designers Jo-Ann Sire and John Linse won five awards as a team in the competition 鈥 gold in Visual Design 鈥 Individual Publications for Opening the Doors to Our Future: Invitation, silvers in Visual Design 鈥 Overall Publication Design for 鈥淥pening the Doors to Our Future: Building Dedication Book,鈥 鈥淩esearch That Matters,鈥 and 鈥 91探花Medicine, Changing Our World鈥 and a bronze for 鈥 91探花Medicine Dean鈥檚 Report.鈥 Sire also won a gold in Student Audiences Recruitment Folders, Fliers and Brochures for 鈥淔reshman Information Piece鈥 and a bronze in Visual Design 鈥 Individual Publications for 鈥淓ifman Gala Invitation.鈥

The 鈥 91探花Second Annual Recognition Gala Event Package鈥 won a grand gold in Visual Design, Illustration and Photography and gold in the Special Audiences/Programs 鈥 Exhibition and Special Event Publications for Cheryl Nations, Alanya Cannon, Meishan Bettendorf, Erin Shea, Mel Curtis Photography, Joanne De Pue, Jean Hayes, Barbara Koh, Sarah Conradt Creative and Susan Stoddard. The UW鈥檚 鈥淩eport to Contributors鈥 won gold in Donor/Prospect Audiences 鈥 Foundation Annual Reports for the same team plus Kathleen Donnelly and Sire.

Nations, Cannon, Bettendorf, Shea, Stoddard and Sire also won a bronze in Visual Design 鈥 Individual Publications for 鈥淎n Afternoon at Vanumanutagi Ranch鈥擡vent Invitation.鈥

The 91探花Tacoma鈥檚 Institute of Technology CD-ROM won silver in Interactive Multimedia Programs for Mike Wark, Imageworks Media Group and GA Design.

Tricia Thompson won gold in Public Relations Projects for 鈥淥pening the Doors to our Future,鈥 while Sandy Marvinney and Deborah Illman won gold in promotional copy for their work on the brochure for that project. Marvinney also won a bronze in promotional copy for 鈥淓ngineering the Future.鈥

Paul Roybal, Lisa Quinn, Jackie Phillips and Laurie Lonsdorf won a silver in public relations for 鈥淯-Pass Communications,鈥 while Roybal, Quinn, Phillips and Nigel Heinsius won a silver in the same category for 鈥淩ide in the Rain.鈥

The 91探花Career Discovery Week won a bronze in Alumni Relations Projects for Don Gallagher, Mark Falconer, Mark Stewart, Suzanne Mercier, Bryan Daisley and Susan Templeton.
