Leaders from each Slavic community in the Seattle area have worked together for months to create the first 91探花Slavic Fest, slated for Saturday and Sunday, May 15 and 16.
Dances, crafts, songs and culture will be featured in the weekend celebration.
On Saturday, an array of classes will be offered at Polish Home in Seattle at 1714 18th Avenue. Saturday evening at the home, the annual Cyril & Methodius party (held to honor the saints who created the Cyrillic alphabet ) features traditional food, drink and dancing.
On Sunday, Slavic communities will present a colorful, raucous folklore parade and children鈥檚 concert on the 91探花campus. Beginning at 3 p.m. at Drumheller Fountain, families and dancers will gather in traditional costumes with live musicians accompanying each community. The parade will move into Red Square, followed by the concert, slated for 4 p.m. in Kane Hall.
