Notice of Possible Rule Making 鈥� Preproposal Statement of Inquiry (per RCW 34.05.310)

Subject of Possible Rule Making: Use of 91探花, Bothell and Cascadia Community College Joint Facilities in a newly proposed Chapter 478-137 WAC.

Statutes Authorizing the University to Adopt Rules on This Subject: RCW 28B.20.130.

Reasons Why Rules on This Subject May Be Needed and What They Might Accomplish: The UW, Bothell and Cascadia Community College share Washington State鈥檚 only co-located higher education campus. The co-location agreement provides that the institutions have dedicated and joint building spaces. UWB has been able to govern operations of its dedicated campus facility use under Chapter 478-136 WAC, Use of 91探花Facilities, but there is currently no rule to govern the use of spaces shared with CCC. These new rules would allow the institutions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of shared campus space.

Other Federal and State Agencies That Regulate This Subject and the Process Coordinating the Rule with These Agencies: The 91探花will coordinate with Cascadia Community College to promulgate similar rules jointly, under separate agency authorization.

GENERAL NOTICES

New parking and transportation fees effective July 1

Last year, the Board of Regents approved a three-year transportation fee schedule that provides for increases on July 1. For a list of 2005-2006 fees, see www.washington.edu/admin/parking/2004fees.html. Choices are available to help students and employees manage their transportation expenses and minimize the need to drive everyday. Walking, biking, carpooling and taking the bus are excellent ways to reduce spending on commuting.

Sample of fee changes effective July 1:


  • Single Occupant Vehicle (SOV) Parking Permit: $232.86 per quarter
  • Daily gatehouse permit: $10 per day
  • Montlake E1 Parking: $2.62 with a Husky Card Account debit
  • Student U-PASS: $41 per quarter
  • Faculty/staff U-PASS: $57 per quarter

FHCRC seeks women for study

The ExCel Study for Women is designed to determine whether a certain medication can reduce the risk of breast cancer in postmenopausal women who are at high risk of developing the disease. Participants must be women 35 and older who have gone through menopause or stopped having periods or who, due to family history or other factors such as being age 60 or older, are at an elevated risk for developing breast cancer.
