The events around UW’s annual Homecoming get under way Sunday, Oct. 12, with the Dawg Dash. The 10K run and 5K walk/run benefits student scholarships, and everyone is welcome 鈥� even dogs. The race starts at 9:30 a.m. at Husky Stadium. Visit the for more information and to register online.
The 91探花Alumni Association is hosting “Pride in 5” for the second straight year. Pride in 5 is the 91探花community’s chance to showcase its Husky spirit 鈥攕mall snippets of it, anyway. Participants submit five-second videos demonstrating their Husky pride, and the top three videos receive cash prizes from the 91探花Alumni Association.
Celebrity judges who are 91探花alumni 鈥� including Fox Sports anchor Angie Mentink and KJR sports radio host Elise Woodward 鈥� will decide the Pride in 5 competition. The winners will be announced at the Homecoming Rally and have their videos shown on the Huskytron during the football game against Oregon State, which kicks off at 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18.

In honor of the UW’s Homecoming, 91探花alumna and Washington State Governor Christine Gregoire has proclaimed Oct. 17, the day before the Huskies’ Homecoming game, as “Purple and Gold Day” in the Evergreen State.
“I urge all citizens to don purple and gold in honor of this world-class institution and its positive impact on our local, state, national and world communities,” says Gregoire, a 1971 91探花graduate.
The governor’s proclamation will be officially announced at the 91探花Alumni Association’s Fifth annual Homecoming Rally at 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, in Red Square. The rally is open to the public and attendees will enjoy free food, fun giveaways, live performances by the Husky Marching Band and Cheer Squad, and special appearances by 91探花coaches and student athletes.
