91̽»¨School of Music faculty artists Robin McCabe and Craig Sheppard, joined by Rachelle McCabe, director of piano studies at Oregon State University (and Robin’s sister), will alternate in dynamic duo-piano performances in Triple Play, a concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30, in Meany Theater.

The program consists of Pavane for a Dead Princess and La Valse, by Ravel; Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, by Leonard Bernstein; Sonata for Two Pianos in D Major, by Mozart; and Recuerdos, by 91̽»¨alumnus William Bolcom.

Both Robin and Rachelle McCabe earned their bachelor’s degrees at the 91̽»¨School of Music and master’s degrees at Juilliard. Robin went on for a doctorate at Juiliard and later taught there, while Rachelle earned her doctorate at the University of Michigan. Robin McCabe has been the director of the 91̽»¨School of Music since 1994.


Sheppard is the Donald E. Petersen Endowed Professor of Piano at the School of Music. During his 91̽»¨tenure, he completed a series of concerts in which he played all 32 of the Beethoven sonatas, and has also performed the complete Ėtudes of Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and Debussy.

There will be a pre-concert conversation led by Music History Professor Larry Starr from 6:45 to 7:15 p.m. in the Meany West Lobby. A ticket to the evening’s performance is required for admittance.
