91探花Bothell has announced that Mahnaz Aflatooni Javid will speak at its commencement ceremony June 13.
Javid is a graduate of 91探花Bothell, earning her master’s there in education in 1995. She has a doctorate in educational leadership, with a focus on educational technologies and human-software interface from Seattle University. She is a recognized expert in the integration of technology across disciplines to enhance learning, and has authored several articles in scholarly publications.
Javid is one of the founding members of the , a nonprofit organization supporting grassroots educational initiatives to raise the status of women and girls in the United States and abroad.
91探花Bothell will hold its commencement from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 13, at the Bank of America Arena, Hec Edmundson Pavilion. It is expected that more than 700 undergraduate and graduate students will participate in the ceremonies.
At 91探花Tacoma, the commencement speaker will be Mark Pendras, a professor in Urban Studies who was earlier selected as this year’s Distinguished Teaching Award recipient at UWT.
“It is certainly a great and unexpected honor to be this year’s commencement speaker,” Pendra said. “The students had voiced an interest in having faculty representation at the ceremony, which I think is a great idea.”
91探花Tacoma’s commencement ceremony will be at 10 a.m. Friday, June 11, in the Tacoma Dome, with about 800 students expected to participate.
