The 91探花 community will honor the life of Sgt. William (Will) Stacey in a public funeral service at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb.11, in Meany Hall.

An informal reception will follow in the lobby.

Will Stacey, 23, the son of Bob Stacey, interim dean of the College of Arts & Sciences; and history professor Robin Stacey, was killed in the line of duty while serving in Afghanistan on Jan. 31.

“My death did not change the world; it may be tough for you to justify its meaning at all,鈥 Will Stacey wrote in a letter to his family that was published in the . “But there is greater meaning to it.鈥 He concluded that letter writing, “If my life buys the safety of a child who will one day change this world, then I know that it was all worth it.鈥
