WHAT: First boat made in 3-D printer to compete in Seattle’s annual Milk Carton Derby

DETAILS: The 91探花student 3-D printing club is entering what it believes is the world’s first 3-D printed boat in the annual at Green Lake. The 7-foot boat was made from recycled, melted and extruded milk cartons that the students collected and then run through a large, custom-designed 3-D printer in the UW’s Mechanical Engineering Building.
Boat construction was completed Friday. Students will test the crafts seaworthiness Friday evening in Lake Washington.
