91探花 President Ana Mari Cauce today announced the selection of Andreas Bohman as vice president for 91探花Information Technology and UW鈥檚 chief information officer. He is set to begin March 16.

Bohman takes the place of Aaron Powell, who retires on April 1.

鈥淎ndreas arrives at an important moment for the UW, as we embark on the most formative stages of the , reflect on our campuses鈥 IT needs, as well as the IT strategy and direction two years after the start of the pandemic,鈥 Cauce said. 鈥淔ortunately, Andreas is undaunted and brings a wealth of experience.鈥

Bohman comes to the 91探花with more than 20 years of technology, security and operations leadership experience. Bohman served as the chief information security officer, chief information officer and, most recently, vice president of operations at Central Washington University. He teaches classes on cybersecurity in the Department of Information Technology Administrative Management at CWU and is nationally certified at the highest levels of information and cybersecurity.

The vice president for UW-IT/chief information officer leads the development of the strategic technology direction for the university, fosters collaboration and community among the UW鈥檚 IT organizations, and oversees the people and services of the central IT organization. Bohman鈥檚 mission will be to position technology in support of teaching, learning and research across the UW鈥檚 three campuses, and serve as a leader to develop diverse, impactful teams with a commitment to inclusive and accessible technology services.

Bohman earned a master鈥檚 degree in information assurance from Norwich University in Northfield, Vermont, and an executive MBA from Washington State University. He is also a Major in the Washington National Guard, where he serves as a special forces and military intelligence officer.
