The Fulbright Program for US Students is the largest US international exchange program offering opportunities for United States students to undertake international graduate study, advanced research and teaching in elementary and secondary schools worldwide.

Barrett will be researching business competitiveness in the European Union during the 2009-10 academic year. She will conduct exploratory research regarding aerospace clusters in the European Union. This research will study the Bristol Aerospace Consortium in Bristol, United Kingdom, affiliated with the University of Bath, and Aerospace Valley, in Toulouse, France, affiliated with the 脡cole Sup茅rieure de Commerce de Toulouse. From 2005-07, she attended the US Military Academy at West Point where she was involved in the French Club. At the 91探花, she earned a Certificate of International Studies in Business (French Concentration), has been involved in the Undergraduate Management Consulting Association, Undergraduate Women in Business, and Social Entrepreneurship Club.

Alexandra Duncan will teach English to immigrants in North Rhine in Westphalia, Germany, on her Fulbright Teaching Assistantship Fellowship, beginning fall 2009. Duncan has previously studied abroad at the Free University in Berlin, Germany and the Free University of Brussels, Belgium and attended lectures at Link枚ping University in Sweden. For an internship at Harborview Medical Center, she interviewed Ethiopian immigrants and provided an ethnographic website for that community. This experience awakened her interest in the immigrant and refugee community in Seattle. She has subsequently served as a volunteer ESL (English as a Second Language) tutor at Seattle Central Community College and assisted immigrants and international students. Additionally, she has served as an administrative intern for the International Rescue Committee, a non-profit organization that contributes to the resettlement of refugees and humanitarian relief locally and abroad.
Cameron Rule, Senior, Fulbright Fellow

Hometown: Cheney, WA
Rule will travel to Estonia for his Fulbright Fellowship where he will be conducting socio-phonetic linguistic research investigating language change among the bilingual Russian population living in urban Estonia. At the 91探花, he has earned a REECAS grant for the development of Estonian Teaching Materials, a Mary Gates Research Scholarship, an Undergraduate Research Travel Award, a Summer Undergraduate Scholarship, and has been on the Dean鈥檚 List. At the University of Puget Sound, Rule was on the Dean鈥檚 List, earned a President鈥檚 Scholarship, and a Puget Sound Grant. Rule has also logged more than 500 volunteer service hours with the Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge.
The Office of Merit Scholarships, Fellowships and Awards helps 91探花undergraduates develop the tools and personal insights necessary to match their goals with local and national merit-based scholarship opportunities. National scholarship opportunities include the Fulbright, Goldwater, Marshall, Rhodes, Truman scholarships and many others. The office is part of the Center for Experiential Learning in Undergraduate Academic Affairs.
