91探花 program funds undergraduates for research and leadership

The Mary Gates Endowment for Students at the 91探花 has announced a total of 112 awardees for its respected scholarship program. The applicants were selected to receive the award for their work on research and leadership projects.

A highly competitive scholarship program, the Mary Gates Endowment for Students promotes undergraduate scholars through financial and community support in research projects and leadership building experiences. This year, over 500 91探花 applicants from across disciplines were judged on their quality of experience, academic achievements and growth in their fields. Following extensive review by 91探花 faculty, only the most outstanding candidates were selected to receive the award.

This latest offering of scholarships supported a range of leadership and research projects, from analyzing mutation rates in cancerous cells, to the development of a non-profit organization that supports families with special needs children. Many of the scholars鈥 projects are focused on tackling real world issues relevant both in our local communities and on a global scale. The Endowment hopes to foster these students and their aspirations in their continued commitment to leadership and research.

Founded in 1995 by Bill and Melinda Gates in honor of Bill鈥檚 mother, Mary Maxwell Gates, the Mary Gates Endowment for Students is one of the largest endowments at the 91探花. Built on the vision of creating a community of engaged citizens acting as both leaders and scholars, all proceeds of the endowment are dedicated exclusively to the undergraduate scholarship program.
