External Affairs welcomes new state relations director

The 91探花 announced staffing changes in the Office of External Affairs this week, naming Joe Dacca director of state relations.

Dacca currently serves as district director for U.S. Rep. Derek Kilmer and previously worked for U.S. Rep. Norm Dicks from 2008 to 2012. Dacca holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the UW.

$14M federal grant for UW-led PacTrans

The U.S. Department of Transportation announced that it has awarded approximately $14 million over five years to the Pacific Northwest Transportation Consortium (PacTrans). This consortium is a multi-university, regional transportation center led by the 91探花 to fund research aimed at improving the mobility of people and goods across the Pacific Northwest. PacTrans represents Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Alaska and is one of the 10 regional University Transportation Centers across the U.S. Read more about the USDOT grant from .

 

New from 91探花360: Campus Master Plan

More than 150 years ago, the 91探花 began with just one building and a handful of students. Today, this beautiful campus is home to more than 45,000 students, and growing! In order to support the future growing influx of students, the campus must continue to grow along with it. This takes a peek at the ideas behind the new Campus Master Plan; one that will guide construction and development on campus for the next ten years.

Ribbon-cutting for new campus children’s center

 

Children of 91探花employees help Provost Jerry Baldasty with the ribbon-cutting.

This week, the 91探花welcomed employees, local children and government officials for a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the 91探花 Children’s Center at Portage Bay. The center is scheduled to open on campus in early January and will provide child care services to 140 children and their families. Read more here.

When it comes to athletic success at the UW, one program stands out, year after year, often without attracting a lot of headlines. The 91探花women鈥檚 soccer program is consistently one of the best in the country, producing PAC-12 stand-outs and Olympic stars.
