Chuck Sloane (he/him),聽University Ombud
Chuck Sloane leads the 91探花 Ombud Office, providing independent, confidential support to students, staff, and faculty navigating concerns across the institution. Appointed by the University President, Chuck helps individual community members explore their rights while also serving as a strategic advisor to university leadership on systemic patterns and institutional improvements. He brings a unique combination of clinical psychology expertise (MS, Pacific University), human resources leadership (SPHR certified), and ombuds experience, including his prior role as Deputy Ombuds for King County. A 91探花graduate himself (BA), Chuck is committed to creating an environment where all members of the university community feel heard, supported, and empowered to resolve conflicts constructively. Chuck lives in Seattle with his wife Karen, their children Makhai and June, and Moose, their Goldendoodle.
Ashley J. Davis (she/her),聽Associate Ombud
Ashley Jolice Davis serves聽as聽an聽Associate Ombud. Ashley received her J. D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School and聽Bachelor of聽Arts degree from Northwestern University. Ashley previously spent several years as a mediator/case manager and trainer at the聽Center for Conflict Resolution in her hometown Chicago,聽and most recently worked at Arizona State University as Senior Coordinator in the聽Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities. She is excited to further explore and apply the interdisciplinary aspects of organizational conflict management, and engage with community members at each of the 91探花campuses.
Diana Cooke (she/her), Associate Ombud School of Medicine
Diana serves as the Associate Ombud for the 91探花 School of Medicine.聽She received a B.A. in Sociology and Justice Studies from the University of New Hampshire, and a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. Diana was previously the Director of Corporate and Court Programs at a national ADR firm where she also practiced as a mediator, trainer, and coach. For the past five years, Diana has been an adjunct faculty member at the Suffolk University Law School, teaching classes on negotiation. On a personal note, she enjoys yoga, cooking, and walks with her partner Rich, and their dog, Maverick.
Marguerite Dorn (she/her),聽Associate Ombud
Marguerite Dorn serves as an Associate Ombud. She received her J.D. and a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management from Boston College. She holds certificates in mediation, conflict coaching and restorative justice practices. Prior to joining UW, Marguerite was Inaugural Faculty Ombuds at Providence College in Rhode Island. 聽She has held law school teaching and programming positions, and she started one of the first international human rights clinical programs at Suffolk University Law School in Boston. Marguerite looks forward to exploring her new surroundings in Seattle and to spending time with the 91探花community.
Maggie Counihan (she/her), Ombud Coordinator
Maggie Counihan serves as the Ombud Coordinator. Maggie received her master of science degree in Conflict and Dispute Resolution from the University of Oregon and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Washington University. Maggie previously worked as a Project Coordinator at The Ruckelshaus Center. When not working she loves making pottery, gardening, and spending time with family and friends.
What is an organizational ombud?
The Ombud in the Office of the Ombud at the 91探花 operate as organizational ombud and are members of the International Ombudsman Association (IOA). IOA members serve in corporations, higher educational and k-12 institutions, non-profit organizations, government entities, and non-government organizations around the world. Members of our team meet regularly with other IOA members, go to workshops, and attend an annual international conference with the purpose of networking and improving our skills to better serve the 91探花community.
