Our mission is to provide high quality, client-focused services for preventing, managing, navigating and resolving conflict at the 91探花while also working to improve the fairness and effectiveness of the University鈥檚 systems and operations. We act as thought-partners with clients to assist them in navigating any issue to do with their lives at the UW. Through active participation in the problem-solving process, clients develop the ability to prevent, manage, and resolve future conflicts.
Roles and responsibilities
- Serving as an additional informal resource to help clients explore a variety of paths to address their concerns or raise their complaints
- Facilitating or mediating situations, when appropriate, to help find the best possible outcome
- Addressing issues in an informal manner
- Directing individuals to appropriate resources for both informal and formal processes
Executive Order No. 18 鈥� the University Ombud听听
The University President appoints the University Ombud in consultation with听students, staff, and faculty representatives. The appointment is confirmed by the Faculty Senate.
鈥淭he responsibilities of the University Ombud are:
- To help individual members of the University community explore and assert their rights and interests within the University; and
- To improve the fairness and effectiveness of the University鈥檚 systems and operations.鈥澨�
