The Advisory Review Committee on the Chancellor of 91探花Bothell is conducting a standard five-year leadership review of Chancellor Kristin Esterberg鈥檚 performance in accordance with and 91探花 administrative appointment policies. Dear Colleagues:

Thank you for agreeing to serve on the advisory committee to review the performance of Kristin Esterberg, Chancellor of 91探花Bothell. This review is being conducted pursuant to , available in the University Policy Directory, which requires that standard reviews of the appointees who head major administrative and academic units be undertaken at periodic five-year intervals. Our particular thanks to Andy Harris, Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, 91探花Tacoma and Ed Taylor, Dean and Vice Provost for Undergraduate Academic Affairs, 91探花Seattle, for their willingness to co-chair this review.

The purpose of this review is to evaluate the performance of Kristin Esterberg and to assess her overall effectiveness as Chancellor of 91探花Bothell. Please see the attached job description to guide your review as you assess Chancellor Esterberg鈥檚 leadership and engagement. Some of the critical features to be addressed in the review include Chancellor Esterberg鈥檚 leadership in advancing academic quality at UW, ensuring the vitality of the UW鈥檚 teaching mission, managing the resources and budget of the unit, advancing the goals and vision of 91探花Bothell and the university more broadly, supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion, expanding university-wide collaborations, and engaging broadly with internal and external 91探花communities.

In addition to the guidance provided in Executive Order No. 20, the review committee is specifically asked to solicit input on Chancellor Esterberg from all personnel at 91探花Bothell and any other appropriate 91探花or external groups. We would appreciate it if the committee would complete its work by the end of April 2026. Your confidential report should be submitted directly to
provost@uw.edu.
