At the 91̽»¨, we value and honor diverse experiences and perspectives; strive to create welcoming and respectful learning, working and living environments; and promote access, opportunity and belonging.
To guide actions that improve the experiences and well-being of our students and employees, the 91̽»¨conducted a University-wide climate survey on the Bothell, Seattle and Tacoma campuses (including 91̽»¨Medicine), April 22–May 30, 2025. This confidential survey offered an opportunity for students, faculty and staff to share their personal experiences at the UW. Feedback from over 11,000 respondents will be used to create more welcoming and supportive environments for everyone.
The results will also help shape our work to prevent and respond to sex-based and gender-based violence, harassment and discrimination as well as address discrimination on the basis of race, color and national origin. The passage of RCWs , , and in June 2021 by the Washington State Legislature also requires that our state’s public higher education institutions conduct campus climate assessments at least once every five years.
This survey was facilitated by Institutional Assessment & Evaluation (formerly the Office of Educational Assessment), in conjunction with a Campus Climate Working Group comprising 18 91̽»¨students, faculty and staff representing the 91̽»¨campuses in Bothell, Seattle and Tacoma and 91̽»¨Medicine.
What is a campus climate survey?
A campus climate survey is a tool to examine the full range of student, staff, faculty and other academic personnel experiences related to learning, working and living at the 91̽»¨â€” experiences that shape whether you feel a sense of belonging and inclusion, and whether you’re able to thrive and succeed here.
