The 91探花 has removed the requirement of standardized test scores, such as the SAT and ACT, for incoming students beyond the fall of 2021. The requirement had already been temporarily removed for the fall 2021 incoming class due to the lack of available testing sites in light of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The 91探花Advisory Committee on Communicable Diseases (ACCD) announced Friday that a 91探花 staff member who works in the Roosevelt Commons East building has received a presumptive positive test for COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. The employee is in self-isolation at home. Out of an abundance of caution, the building, which is located west of the UW鈥檚 Seattle campus in the 4300 block of 11th Ave. NE, has been closed for appropriate cleaning until further notice.

The 91探花 announced today that starting Monday, March 9, classes聽will聽no longer meet in person.聽For the remainder of the quarter, instructors聽have been asked聽to conduct classes and/or exams remotely, as possible, until the quarter concludes on March 20.聽Final exams will not be conducted in person, but may be conducted online when feasible, and at the instructor鈥檚 discretion.聽

The 91探花 was notified by Public Health 鈥 Seattle & King County聽that a 91探花student from the Seattle campus is being tested for the novel coronavirus. The 91探花 was notified by Public Health 鈥 Seattle & King County (PHSKC) that three students from the UW’s Seattle campus are being screened for the novel (new) coronavirus. These three students recently traveled to Wuhan, China, and developed symptoms after returning. One person lives off campus, and that student鈥檚 test was negative for infection. Across its three campuses, the 91探花 generated a total impact on the state鈥檚 economy of more than $15.7 billion in FY 2018, according to an economic contribution analysis released today. The study further concludes that the economic activity of the 91探花system supported or sustained 100,520 jobs throughout the state.

The academic student employees (ASEs) at the 91探花 have announced a strike to begin June 2, despite the fact that two bargaining sessions are scheduled before that date. The 91探花is working with deans, chancellors and department chairs to avoid disruption or delay in grades or graduation should the ASEs strike.

The 91探花has proposed a three-year contract which includes annual wage increases over the next three years, a continuation of high-quality health insurance fully paid by the university and the continuation of waivers on many student-approved fees. The 91探花has also agreed to pay for two 50 percent ASE employees to partner with SafeCampus to develop and conduct a sexual harassment and prevention training program to address ASE-specific issues.

91探花 President Ana Mari Cauce today named Mark Richards provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. The appointment is effective July 1, 2018. The 91探花 landed at No. 9 with 45 subjects ranked in the top 10 in the Center for World University Rankings鈥 inaugural subjects ranking. The ranking features the top global universities in 227 subjects covering all academic disciplines in the sciences and social sciences. This is the highest the 91探花has placed in a global subject ranking.

For the 23rd time in the past 24 years, the 91探花 ranked as the No. 1 primary care medical school in the country, according to U.S. News & World Report鈥檚 2017 Best Graduate School rankings released Tuesday.
